AADAP Inc., LA Korean Education Center in partnership with the KYCC, KFAM, Social Model Recovery Systems, and the DEA’s Operation Engage, will hold a wellness seminar for Korean families.
Scheduled for Wednesday, June 12, from 6:00 PM, at the Korean Education Center Auditorium, lasting approximately one and a half hours. This seminar will be conducted in Korean.
AADAP Inc. and the Korean Education Center in LA are co-hosting a ‘Wellness Seminar for family” designed to support the health and well-being of the Korean community. The event will take place on Wednesday, June 12, at 6:00 PM. This seminar aims to introduce methods for maintaining a happy and safe family life for Korean families in LA while strengthening the sense of community solidarity. Through this event, Korean residents will realize the numerous experts and organizations dedicated to helping them, even far from Korea. The seminar will address issues Korean families may face amidst social and economic changes such as rising costs, crime, and drugs post-pandemic. Experts will directly introduce methods to protect families from these challenges. Participants will gain resources and methods to make their family life safer and happier through these educational sessions. Additionally, this event will be free of charge to encourage the participation of many Korean residents. Participants will be provided with kimbap, raffle prizes, and giveaways.

Part 1: Expert Panel Talk Show
Dr. Kay Kim (PsyD, LMFT), Marriage and Family Therapist: Discusses strategies for positive communication across generations and the importance of psychological support.
Dr. Jiseung David Yoon, Addiction Specialist and Associate Professor at Loma Linda University: Provides insights into the medical aspects of addiction and practical approaches to addressing addiction issues in the community.
Dr. Gilmore Chung, Addiction Medicine Chief at Venice Family Clinic: Discusses ways to overcome stigma and barriers to treatment.
DEA Representatives: Explain trends in illegal drug use among schools and youth and present prevention strategies.
Part 2: Introduction of LA Community Non-Profit Organizations
Representatives from non-profit organizations such as AADAP, KYCC, KFAM, and Social Model Recovery Systems will introduce their activities and services for Korean families in the community. These organizations provide various programs to support family health and safety, promoting positive changes in the community. The seminar will provide parents with valuable information and resources for family health. It focuses on helping Korean residents in the US lead healthier and safer lives. We look forward to the active participation and interest of Korean parents.

pride and identity among Korean Americans. - AADAP (Asian American Drug Abuse Program) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing drug abuse services throughout LA County. Since its founding in 1972, its mission has been to
enhance community health through prevention education, drug abuse treatment, and vocational training. - KYCC (Koreatown Youth and Community Center) was founded in 1975 in response to the growing at-risk youth population in LA. Today, KYCC is a leading multi-service agency in
Koreatown, supporting youth and their families in education, health, housing, and finance. - KFAM (Korean American Family Services) was established in 1983 to provide hope and assistance to immigrant families suffering from economic hardship, immigration stress, and family discord. Since its founding, KFAM has helped thousands of Korean Americans, particularly women, children, immigrants, and low-income families.
- DEA’s Operation Engage is a comprehensive community-level approach that addresses the problem of illegal drug trends through prevention strategies, linking public health and public safety. This program aims to achieve practical and measurable changes through dialogue and collaboration with local partners.
- Social Model Recovery Systems provides direct treatment services at 11 locations in LA County for individuals struggling with alcohol and other drug-related issues.

오는 6월 12일 (수) 오후 6시부터 LA한국교육원 정실관에서 한 시간 반가량 진행
AADAP Inc와 LA 한국교육원은 공동으로 한인 커뮤니티의 건강과 안녕을 지원하기 위해 설계된 ‘가족 건강 세미나’를 오는 6월 12일 (수) 오후 6시에 개최합니다. 이 행사는 LA의 한인 가족들이행복하고 안전한 가정생활을 유지할 수 있는 방법을 소개하며, 지역사회의 연대감을 강화하고자기획되었습니다.
본 행사를 통해 한인 동포들은 한국에서 멀리 떨어진 이곳에서도 한인들을 돕고자 하는전문가들과 기관들이 많다는 것을 느낄 수 있을 것입니다. 특히 팬데믹 이후 치솟는 물가, 범죄,마약 등 사회적, 경제적 변화 속에서 한인 가정이 마주할 수 있는 문제들에 주목하며, 이로부터가정을 지키기 위한 방법을 전문가들이 직접 소개할 것입니다. 이러한 교육적인 세션을 통해참여자들은 가족의 삶을 보다 안전하고 행복하게 만들 수 있는 방법과 자원을 얻게 될 것입니다.
또한, 이번 행사는 많은 한인 교민들의 참여를 유도하기 위해 무료로 진행되며, 참여자들에게김밥, 경품, 증정품 등도 제공될 예정입니다.
